Morning Glory and what a glorious colour it is too, so different from the usual pale blue which although lovely is not like this wonderful rich, velvety purple.
This particular plant is swarming up a trellis on the side of a barn and the owner said that he had never planted it, the seeds had simply self-set in the earth under a south facing wall and raced away. No doubt the most likely explanation for the plants arrival is that the birds or the wind brought them and the growing conditions were just right for this particular variety of Morning Glory.
We've tried to grow it twice before and failed brilliantly, actually gloriously is a better word, never mind we're getting some seedlings and we're going to try again, hopefully with a little more success.
Oasis a bit modern for a man of your vintage TT. Sorry.

ReplyDeleteLove the Morning Glory, especaly in foriegn climes agaist a white wall, azure sky topped with bird sown wild figs. Too old to be troubled by it myself these days...

ReplyDeleteI knew it wouldn't take long! I'll bring it back down (!!) and say what a marvelous colour that is TT - would make a nice colour for a smoking jacket! It never ceases to amaze me what nature throws at us. Enjoy it as it won't last long.You were right the other week - it's been bloomin' autumnal. We are on hols and have had the wood burner going each night. TTFN, Dickie
