When father painted the portico...

The front of the house, which was once a Baptist Church, has had a summer spruce up and some would say a bit of a 'bling-up' too.
The portico has been painted brilliant white and the Roman Numerals are not beige any longer, just a glowing Rococo gold; we think that is probably completely against the Baptist ethos but we like the gold paint picking out the numerals in gold.
Typically the decorating coincided with the arrival of the first wasps who seemed to be attracted by the gold paint and the sparkling brilliant white paint, bloody things. There is a tendency to wave your arms at them when they start buzzing around but that's not a good plan when you are up a ladder trying to paint eroded Victorian lettering.
1844 looks like a good year to us.
