A natty moth

Found this little chap sheltering from the torrential rain on the back garden fence and a smartly turned out moth he is too, he's almost wearing a snooker player's waistcoat.
Finding him prompted the inevitable dive into the reference books to put a name to the species and it appears that he or she is a Cinnabar Moth and their larvae feed on the poisonous ragwort, now that sounds like a really good job description and a vocation to us.
We've found three or four of these dapper little moths during the last couple of days so it must be a peak time for them with plenty of poisonous ragwort for the caterpillars to feed on.
Remember if you see one congratulate it for destroying poisonous plants and urge it to eat even more, even if he is wearing a somewhat retro Manchester City football kit.
