That's all folks!

The end. A sad day. No more fresh asparagus from the farmer because June 21 has come and gone and we have an asparagus ceasefire until next year's crop appears, so that's the last of the delicious 'Purple Passion' for another year.
I casually mentioned to the farmer that surely we could cut and harvest the asparagus for a few more days and the withering look that greeted the remark suggested that I had gone over to the dark side. "My grandfather and my father stopped cutting on June the 21 every year and I do too, the plants need to recover so that it crops as well or even better next season and I see no reason to change." That's a no then.
But it's a damned long close season just the same.
      That's seasonal eating for you.
