A brace of pheasants

One of the farmers we know manages a shoot and yesterday he ran the Christmas get together for the guns and today we are the beneficiaries of a brace of lovely pheasants. At the moment they are hanging in a cold greenhouse and tomorrow the first job is to dress them before the debate about how we cook them.
These birds have not been reared in a pen, they are wild birds that have hatched and lived out on the fen all their lives. There's a subsidiary bonus from these two birds too, some of the feathers will become trout flies for next season, the Pheasant Tail nymph will be well represented in the collection as well as buzzers and other flies.
Beautiful colours too, thank you Mr and Mrs Pheasant, you are much appreciated.
