The first of the snowdrops in the garden appeared about ten days ago and although they are a winter flower I always feel that they are the messengers of brighter days to come as the daylight lengthens.
They always appear in the worst of the weather in the frost, snow, greyness, rain and wind glowing like little lights. They must be really hardy little things to survive and each year there are more of them as they slowly spread.
All the other bulbs will appear soon enough with spring just around the corner and gradually, just gradually, the days that becoming longer with more minutes of daylight.
