After a truly hot day at the weekend this menacing body of cloud began to slowly drift across the sky gradually obliterating the blue sky and high fleecy clouds. The topic of conversation became the promise of a serious deluge, a good watering for the garden and the water butts being filled to the brim. As we retired to bed the expectancy was high that we would hear the sound of steady rain before the night was over.
The next morning dawned and nothing had changed; the grass was still yellow, the water butts remained practically empty and the potted plants had to be watered. The clouds must have drifted on and emptied themselves over The Wash or the North Norfolk coast and the rain missed us completely.
Back to watering it is then.
It is parched here too..
