The creeping green giant

A dull day but the hot weather and lack of rain is having its usual effect on the Fenland drains in the immediate area, they are slowly turning green from the surface weed growth.
Although some of the drains are deep, some very deep indeed, the weed growing up from the bottom is heading for the surface too in a major effort find more light and the yellow lilies are being choked with the green curse. If we get some steady wind blowing along the drains the green infestation will be inches thick where it heaps up against the lilies, reeds and bank sides.
I cannot be bothered casting a line into this murk so I'll wait for some wind and rain to do its job and sink the horrible green surface cloak.

  1. Awful TT - sticks like you know what to a blanket as the old saying goes....we have it on our local rivers as well in the slower reaches...not enough rain, but just enough if you know what I mean - the seasons eh! TTFN Dickie
