The gang isn't all here

There they are, all balancing on the electricity wires, our resident and growing flock of starlings the rest of them were obviously twitchy about something and were circling and fluttering around overhead. Why do some seem quite happy and at peace with their surroundings while as many again are flying around looking positively nervous?
Maybe there was sparrow hawk lurking and they were the early warning system but this group seem quite at peace with the world. I've grown to quite like starlings, we get a lot of them on the front lawn looking for food, probably daddy longlegs and they strut around out there as if they own all of the grass. It's a pity they can't cut it while they're parading around.
They also pillage the bird feeders but the goldfinches and LBJs don't pay them any attention at all. Hopefully we are going to get some wonderful formation acrobatics as they home in on their roosts this winter.
That spectacle will help pay for their bird food.
