The Mexican Hat

Our friend the farmer has given the Boss this old animal feeder for her birthday so she can use it as a garden planter for flowers.
Amazingly this is a small version and it's still about three feet across, quarter inch thick cast iron and very heavy. Fortunately it already has some drainage holes already drilled into the bottom but in his barn the farmer has another ten of the large size 'Mexican Hats' that are four feet across and must weigh about fifty-six pounds each, looking at them I feel quite sure that there would be a market for them up in London.
The 'Mexican Hats' used to be used for water or food for the pigs but another friend uses his like small ponds for his ducks and geese to splash and paddle around in, a nice bit of lateral thinking there.
The Boss' will be for flowers and very nice it will look too when I get round to planting it up.

  1. I've got one of those that for a mini pond. Get frogs and the birds use it for bathing and drinking.

    1. Not really there's too much going on. Sue's brother had a heart attack and today they have tried to repair a huge aortic aneurism in his abdomen. Seems that he is hanging by a thread., no doubt it will be a few days in Aberdeen soon. Now the 99.5 year old mum has kicked off. Sometimes I'd like to live in a tent in the middle of nowhere. Next weak-ish maybe.
