This year, for some reason known only to Mother Nature, we haven't picked a single mushroom in the orchard and that is despite a very generous top-dressing of horse manure. Horse manure is the mushroom's version of a funghi super food, allegedly.
The excitement of a late crop was rapidly dissipated when these promising looking funghi appeared overnight but a perfunctory examination showed that these particular specimens might well give you a bit of gip if you cooke them to go with your full English breakfast. As they begin to mature they look quite revolting and don't smell to great either.
Never mind there's always next yrear.
