Swelling plums

When we finally get a warm sunny day without the very chilly north east wind your whole outlook on the world changes. The fruit that is growing and maturing in the orchard gets a little closer scrutiny and what is on view increases the optimism about what is to come and be enjoyed.
The fruit on view here are Victoria plum in the early stages of development and they are coming on a treat but some warm nights would speed things up a little not only with the fruit but with the asparagus too. We've only been cutting every third day and all we have been getting are two or three spears each morning. Asparagus does not like the cold and chilly nights, it stays tucked up under the soil waiting for a warmer night before making an appearance above ground.
