We were driving to our not so local but very, very good butcher in Stowbridge when we saw this rather forlorn looking seat near a village hall. It's not quite the picturesque village green beloved by the cameramen in those television detective series but it does have a certain wistful quality about it, or maybe it's more Twin Peaks, although it's a bit flat for peaks and mountains of any description.
There's a roof over the seat, which is a very thoughtful addition, but based on our knowledge and experience of West Norfolk it won't keep the rain off, and that's mainly because 95% of the rain that falls in West Norfolk seems to arrive horizontally.
Never mind it's just a small demonstration of civic pride.
That simple photo says so much.
