After a week he had some more bloods taken and the indicators of the infection in his liver are steadily reducing and the abdominal swelling has pretty well gone, so now it's a return visit in two weeks when hopefully he'll get a clean bill of health. His appetite is back and even as a twelve year old he's running and chasing.
I was seriously tempted to draw a shirt collar, tie and waistcoat on his tummy but I felt that he'd really had enough indignities to put up with, even his armpits or dog pits as I call them had been shaved.
Here's to rude terrier health.
John it's tough to see your friend in a bad condition. Thankfully his issue was taken care of and all seems well.
ReplyDeleteThanks Alan, He was going rapidly downhill, but fingers crossed, he's improving every day. The referral vets are very clever and skilled people. Regards, John
ReplyDeleteHere's to another 12 odd years, I know just how hard it is to see your best mate poorly and there's nothing you can do to help bar getting them the best care.
ReplyDeleteThank you anonymous, It comes to us all but he is an absolutely hard as nails terrier and he is improving. Back to his worst some would say. the swollen tummy has gone and he's running again, Lon may it continue. He's daft as a brush really unless he's looking after you.. Best wishes, John
