We cropped this, the first cutting of the asparagus season on Friday, the ongoing cold weather had held the crop back but a few warm days had made all the difference. Prior to the spell of warm weather it was just the odd shoot that was sticking its head above the soil but now it should be all systems go until June 21 when non-commercial growers stop cutting and let the plants gather their strength for next year.
The Boss has had her first boiled eggs with asparagus soldiers and I have no doubt that there will be a variety of culinary techniques employed to further our enjoyment.
Purple Spouting you are quite delicious.
Hi John
ReplyDeleteAsparagus and soft boiled or poached eggs - what more could you ask for?
We got our first of the season from my father about a week or so a go and it was delicious, so much better than shop bought.
Thanks
Alistair
Alastair, absolutely delicious. I also like it cooked on the griddle with bacon and black pudding and eggs. Delicious! Regards, John
