Perfect conditions for passion

After a period when we had cooler days and even cooler evenings the weather seems to have stabilised a little into a seasonal norm. The days are much warmer and the warmer ground and warmer nights is getting the purple passion into a frenzy of growth, you can almost hear it growing.
We're picking about this many spears three or four times a week so the other half is enjoying them with boiled and poached eggs, I've cooked them on the griddle on the barbecue, we've made tarts and the thicker stems have been turned into soup and then eaten with some sourdough or frozen for later consumption.
The season of plenty is gathering some momentum now. What a pleasure and there's more to come.
