Of poppies and peas

A beautifully sunny fenland morning and out with the two terriers before it gets too hot but despite the high early morning temperature there's been a good dewfall. The rain and the heat have encouraged the fields of seed peas to put a sprint on in terms of growth and now the 'plant wall' is impenetrable. Lucie, the younger Jack Russell becomes exceptionally frustrated when she can't chase the pheasants, she simply bounces off the trampoline-like wall of greenery and tendrils.
As the three of us trundled along, me purposeful and thinking about a coffee and the two terriers totally and seemingly aimless but obviously being overpowered by a cornucopia of scents I saw this lovely mixture of red and green. The red of the poppies and the green of the pea plants.
      Quite splendid.
