The threat up above

A very threatening and malevolent looking sky from one evening last week.
In fact some of the skies have been so strange that they seem to change quite radically in the space of seconds, the moral there being always keep the camera to hand or you'll miss them completely.
This sky seemed to be carrying some real menace, almost biblical in a way but nothing happened, I was half expecting a column of fire, a tornado or lightning bolt but it just drifted away and seemed to dissolve into a milky white light.
Disappointing but a bit of a relief nonetheless. As always I haven't a clue what this  particular cloud structure is called so I'll just enjoy it for how it looked, horror film scary.

Fantastic cloud formations - like a scene from Harry Potter. We have been having a lot of weather lately. I have driven through all sorts in the last week, from mid 20s sunshine in Lincolnshire on Wednesday to 9 degrees and torrential rain in the Lammermuirs today. Currently it is a breezy 15 degrees in Fife

  2. I call it light switch weather, it seems to change at the flick of a switch but we have had some weird skies. Last night he F15s were coming to lakenheath at great speed and corresponding noise and Think they were dodging the weather. Never mind, it'll be different tomorrow. John
