The old Nissen hut is home to a pair of Little Owls that live quite happily in the double skin. I hear them scooting around their personal space and occasionally see them on the stacks of wooden trays and outside on the applewood log stack. The pellets that the Little Owls regurgitate are quite small and compared to these two they are positively dinky.
The blade on my pocket knife from tip to bolster is two and a half inches so these two pellets were definitely produced by something bigger. Perhaps the barn Owls or the Tawny Owls that we hear at night. Or maybe there's an even bigger owl around.
      Eyes peeled please terriers.
