The surface of the moon

The 25 acre field remains dry, hard and unforgiving and it really is as dry as a bone. The farmer has made many passes up and down the field to break the soil down but it's far harder than the conventional tilth so beloved of allotment gardeners. We did have a good drop of rain one night a week or so ago, almost one quarter of an inch, but you'd never know it looking at this soil.
This weekend we are promised rain but I'll believe it when I see or hear it. The end of April always appears to be dry in West Norfolk so lockdown or not it will be good to see some of the wet stuff falling from on high.
Meanwhile the peas just appear to be waiting for some watery inspiration or should that be stimulation.

  1. Yup it is a bit dry! My lawn looks like a West Indian cricket crease!

  2. There's very little difference between the farm road concrete and the drove. Rock bloody hard. Cracks in the fields, rain needs for sure. Stay safe, John
