Out and about with the two Jack Russell Terriers the other morning and I see what looks like an early Christmas Tree decoration, in fact it's a Jonnagold apple looking more red than gold. The variety is a cross using Jonathan and Golden Delicious varieties and makes great eating.
The fruit are large and sweet although I wouldn't eat this one because of the strange spotty scabbing on it. Some creatures, namely Jack Russells don't seem to care, maybe 'an apple a day keeps the vet at bay'. That's another one scrimped and heading for Lucie's tummy.
