We've taken all we need from two of our fruit trees and we're leaving the rest for the birds. Crab Apple gin has been made and left to macerate and the Medlar jelly is stored safely in the 'winter cupboard' ready to be consumed with some cold cuts of meat and cheeses. So over to you birds.
Now that we've had a couple of light frosts and a temperature of minus four on Sunday morning this fruit won't last very long, Blackbirds have already got their beaks into the crab apples and a few Fieldfares and Redwings have already been on the medlars that are on the ground and those still on the tree so the avian clean-up operation has begun.
