The One Hundred Foot Pumping Station

As a break from the months of housebound existence because of Covid the Boss and I dusted down the 'Pikemobile', cleaned the windows and set off into the empty West Norfolk Fenland on a mystery tour, me driving and the Boss in the Turret. We hadn't a clue where we were going, it was a follow the bonnet kind of brief, anyway the sun was shining and we were on the road again following the blacktop to who knows where.

As we ambled along marvelling marvelling at the constant tidy and precise husbandry of the farmland I stopped at an old pumping station. Now, we love the pride the engineers and Drainage Boards had in these buildings and what they achieved. Sure enough up on the wall were two large plaques displaying their collective pride and the text speaks for itself and for them for that matter.
No do they ever fire those old engines up at any time? We need to find out and be there if they do.
