Jack Russell Terrier down

Last month our oldest Parson Jack Russell Terrier had to be put to sleep, an absolutely agonising decision but the right one. He was seventeen and a half years old and he'd been poorly for year but like Lazarus he just kept going being as big a pest as he always had been, demanding food, stealing food and his walks. Terriers are as hard as nails.
Sadly his health had just nose-dived over a couple of days and the decision was made, thankfully our Vet agreed that it was the right one, but that doesn't make things any easier.

Needless to say Sue and I were bereft but things are stabilising now and our other terrier, four year old Lucie is slowly filling the space, not an easy job, but then I suppose it's strange for her too. Time to pour a beer and salute a lost Jack Russell Terrier.

  1. Never easy, but a lovely looking chap and sounded like a real character.

    1. For what is a small terrier it's amazing the space they leave.

  2. You will probably remember us as the donors of Barney all those years ago. Have often kept up to date on his progress over the years. Sorry to hear your news Mike & Lorna

    1. Mike & Lorna, Barney had a great innings really. He loved everyone and is missed, one remarkable fact is that he was the only Jack Russell we've had who never drew a drop blood, all the others had a lump out of me at least once! He got around too, Newcastle, North Yorkshire, Berkshire, Essex, Lincolnshire and Wales. A massive miss as is his house-guarding barking. John
