Pay attention, we're here


      Although it's warm in the sheltered places out in the exposed areas there's still a chilly edge to the wind. Where there's the slightest sheltered place, like the side of a dyke for instance, the spring flowers are braving the chill and getting on with grabbing some sunshine and warmth.

      If the weather holds and there aren't any hard frosts the south facing bank sides will soon be covered with a carpet of these lovely yellow flowers and then hot on their heels will come the primroses. When the farmers used to shear the sides of the dykes the flowers never stood a chance, but the vicious cutting seems to have stopped and the flowers have re-asserted themselves self-seeded. Well done I say.
