Prints in the mud

In this case they're the prints from a Muntjack, the little deer we see a lot of although I haven't seen any for a month or so. I hear both Muntjack and Roe deer at night but visuals on them are few and far between at this time of year. They seem to be sheltering from the gales and rain in deep cover in the overgrown orchards and copses.

If I were to let Lucie off the lead a little more when we're out walking she'd dig a few out but the thought of pursuing her half way across West Norfolk doesn't appeal at all, muddy fields are not a load of fun to cross in a hurry when you are in hot pursuit of a terrier totally focussed on a deer or two. We'll just stick to spotting the hoof prints instead and a sighting can be a bonus.
