Getting through the hard times

A small rodent, it's usually a mouse, has been making ends meet under a plum tree in one of the orchards. The plums that haven't been eaten by humans or birds are providing ready meals for one of our small furry friends. The rats mostly head for the farms and houses to hunt for food but the mouse has a ready supply of plum stones falling in the dried plums from the tree right above him in the high winds.

They provide a succulent kernel and good source of second class protein when the hard shell is gnawed away. Full marks for industry I say.
