The landscape has changed

The farmer managed to combine all of his fields of barley last weekend and the beginning of this last week just before the weather changed and the rains came. Hopefully the harvest is good enough for malting making it a premium value crop.

The Combine set about the 20 acre field first and with its massive cutting head the tractor relay taking the barley to the barns was in a continuous relay. The fields were cleared and then the baling went on into the night. The next day the weather changed and the rain finally arrived although the ground is so dry that it will take a lot more rain to get it into a friable state to prepare it for the next crop.
Now the appearance and colour of the landscape has changed from summer to autumn and the seasons are visibly changing despite it being still being August. Hopefully an Indian Summer will arrive before the season really does change.
